I've tried to install Oracle 10gR2 (10.2.0.4.0) on Windows server 2008 (64 bit). I just click on installer and a message appears:

Checking Operating system version: must be 5.0,5.1,5.2 or 6.0

Actual 6.1

FAILED <<<<

Exiting Oracle Universal Installer

Press any key to Exit.

Please advice ..

Thanks

Is this a supported combination of OS name & version with Oracle version?

If you are convinced what you are doing is valid, correct & complies with steps enumerated in Installation Guide manual, then file a Service Request with MOS.

This is not true - CERTIFY states that Oracle 10gR2 is certified to run on Standard, Enterprise, Data Center, and Web Server flavors of 2008. FYI.

Hi,
I've installed the 10.2.0.4 then the patch 10.2.0.5. and it succeded but ... when I tried to install the db with the db creator assistant i got the error: ORA-03113 - End of file on communication channel.
My server is with windows 2008 R2.
The IP adress is not a fix one.
The installation was done on a virtual machine.
Someone has an idea to solve this this issue?
Thx in advance.
Sak.

ORA-00600/ORA-07445/ORA-03113 = Oracle bug => search on Metalink and/or call Oracle support
Have a look at alert.log and trace files.

Windows Server 2008 has version number 6.0 but you have Windows Server 2008 R2 and it has the version number 6.1 so thats why you cant install it.

Hi MIKE_80,
The error ora-03113 was occored when I've installed 10.2.0.4 then the patch 10.2.0.5 (~60 Mo). My server was with Windows 2008 R2 (version 6.1).
After, I downloaded the patch 10.2.0.5 (p8202632) (~1.3 Go). We should install the 10.2.0.4 before the 10.2.0.5 even if this one is about 1.3 Go.
Then, I created the db with the DB config Wizard (Customized, std edition, pwd, ...) and when the creation was about at 2% (copy of files) the error « ORA-12638 Credential retrieval failed », occured. I had to stopped the creation and did the following modification before restarting the creation of the instance:
modify the file SQLNET.ORA saved in the directory: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
Instead of:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)

Hope that can helps you.
Sak.

Do this:

Open <Oracle Install Files>\install\oraparam.ini

Change this line adding 6.1
[Certified Versions]
Windows=5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0,6.1

Try install again.
